Receive Love. Give Love. Repeat.

All are welcome no matter where you are on your journey of faith.

Burke Presbyterian Church welcomes everyone – inclusive of age, race, ability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity and stage of belief. This is not a watered down, one size fits all welcome. It is a commitment to the imagination, dignity, hospitality, healing, courage and community modeled by Jesus.

Ministries

Our church is alive with ministries for all ages. Check out our programs for children, youth, and adults for ways we worship, learn about our faith, make music together, and serve our neighbors. We hope you find Burke Presbyterian Church a place that feels like home.

“Nightingales” Bible Study Group

This lively and lovely group of ladies meets monthly on the third Thursday from 11:30am to 1:00pm.  We currently meet via Zoom but are looking this year to offer hybrid connections, so that some may stay connected at home via Zoom and others may gather at our church.  For our curriculum this year, we have decided to read a chapter a month in Hope – A User’s Manual, a book written by former BPC Associate Pastor Rev. MaryAnn McKibben Dana.…

AA Meeting

An Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) group meets at BPC on Thursdays from 8:30 to 9:30 pm. To access the meeting room, enter the building through a single side door, just around the corner from the main entrance. Walk straight through a large room (the main entrance doors will be on your left) to the East Wing classrooms. The group meets in a double room, E4/E5. For more information, visit the group’s meeting page on the Virginia Alcoholics Anonymous website.

We gather on Sunday mornings on Zoom to read and discuss the sermon text for morning worship. Look for the Zoom link in Friday’s email. If you’re interested in an “in person” version of Sunday Morning Scriptures, please check our weekly emails for adult Sunday School offerings, which often include an additional session of Sunday Morning Scriptures from 10:15-11:00am. Show Me Love: The Graph and the Graft

About this sermon series  John 15:1-12 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vineyard keeper. He removes any of my branchesthat don’t produce fruit, and he trims any branch that produces fruit so that it will produce even more fruit.  You are already trimmed because of the word I have spoken to you.  Remain in me, and I will remain in you. A branch can’t produce fruit by itself, but must remain in the vine. Likewise, you can’t…

Show Me Love: First Response

About this sermon series  I John 4:7-21 Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.  God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him.  In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent…

Show Me Love: Love Is an Action Verb

About this sermon series  I John 3:16-24 We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us — and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees abrother or sister in need and yet refuses help? Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. And by this we will know that we are from the truth…

Show Me Love: Seeing and Being Seen

About this sermon series  Luke 24:36b-48 While they were talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” They were startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones…
