Adult Programs

We believe Christian education is a strong catalyst for personal spiritual growth. BPC provides a variety of learning and study opportunities for lifelong Christians as well as those of us who are new or reacquainting with their faith. We are committed to heartfelt conversations and minds open to different views, doubts, and wonderings. All are welcome!

Sunday School

Sunday school for adults is held between Sunday morning services. These meetings are facilitated by thoughtful, well-prepared discussion leaders. Topics vary according to season and may include scriptural interpretation, book reviews, guest speakers, and topical issues.

Small Groups

BPC offers a variety of small groups, each with its own personality and focus. Each group values inclusiveness and a desire to welcome new members. To learn more about any of the groups, just call the church office at 703-764-0456 or send an e-mail office@burkepreschurch.org.

Music

Music is an important part of worship at BPC. There are opportunities for all ages and stages, singers and instrumentalists, and all levels of experience. We hope you will find a place to share your gifts.

Multi-Generational Events

Activities that include children, youth, and adults all together are important to the spiritual growth of our church family and help to make BPC a place that feels like home. On First Sundays of each month, our multi-generational Sunday School has become a monthly staple for fellowship, creativity, and outreach across a wide range of ministries. On these First Sundays, all ages have gathered to pack snacks for students at Glasgow Middle School, transform our prayers into art, make trail mix bags for CROP Walkers, craft our own Christmas ornaments, and eat lots and lots of cereal! These monthly gatherings offer time and space to connect with one another and care for our neighbors. Keep an eye out for announcements about these and other multi-generational gatherings here at BPC throughout the year.

Study Groups and Speakers

Periodically, we set up small groups circles to delve into subjects like Galatians and inclusivity, as well as an architectural sermon series from the early days of BPC. We also gather in small groups to read and discuss books about faith, reconciliation, and similar topics, sometimes with other churches in the Northern Virginia area. The authors of these books have met with us, in person and on Zoom. The BPC Distinguished Speaker Series has brought us Dr. Omid Safi and Kate Bowler.
