Help Restock ECHO’s Food Room in September

September is the month BPC makes a special effort to collect food for ECHO. A summer with few food drives and low food donations has left ECHO’s Food Pantry with urgent needs. We hope that our generous community will help us.

Requests for food assistance are higher than pre-Covid levels. ECHO sees clients by appointment so as not to overwhelm our capacity, and every food assistance appointment is filled nearly every day. Other organizations are seeing the same level of need. ECHO distributes approximately 25,000 pounds of food each month, but recently food donations have not met the increasing requests.

We hope to meet (or exceed) the more than 1,000 pounds we contributed last September. If you are able, please bring your contributions to the Mission Center cabinet, across from the coffee bar near the front doors.

Most needed items include: flour, masa corn flour, sugar, cooking oil, bags of dried lentils and red and black beans, instant coffee, green tea, canned fruit, canned tomatoes and corn.

ECHO (Ecumenical Community Helping Others) assists residents of Burke and Springfield suffering the effects of long-term poverty or experiencing a short-term financial need. https://www.echo-inc.org/
